The ‘Gold Card’ is now the Trump Card — and it’s here: For $5 million, you can achieve legal U.S. residency
President Trump has launched a new immigration initiative called the “Trump Card”, offering wealthy foreigners a pathway to U.S. residency for $5 million.

On Wednesday, President Trump posted on social media about a new immigration initiative called the “Trump Card”, offering wealthy foreigners a pathway to U.S. residency for $5 million. He wrote that “thousands have been calling and asking how they can sign up to ride a beautiful road in gaining access to the Greatest Country and Market anywhere in the World.”
“FOR FIVE MILLION $DOLLARS, THE TRUMP CARD IS COMING,” he wrote.

How the Trump card works - and why it might not
Trump initially revealed the plan in February, calling it the “gold card” and giving wealthy foreigners a way to bypass the typical immigration process. A new website, Trumpcard.gov, now allows individuals to join a waitlist by submitting personal information, including region of origin and whether they’re applying for themselves or others.
The website displays an image of the gold card with a picture of Trump’s face and the Statue of Liberty along with the term “5M” and Trump’s signature.

“It’s a road to citizenship for people - and essentially people of wealth or people of great talent, where people of wealth pay for those people of talent to get in, meaning companies will pay for people to get in and to have long, long term status in the country,” Trump said in March.
Trump claims that the program could raise $5 trillion by issuing up to a million cards, replacing the 1990 EB-5 visa program, which allows non-citizens to gain residency in exchange for investing in the U.S. and creating jobs for citizens.
Legal experts, however, question whether Trump has the authority to launch such a program without Congressional approval. While a legal loophole known as “parole” might be used, critics argue this would not offer permanent or secure status, making the program’s legality and appeal uncertain.
