A Pokémon player advances after 15,000 hours in a challenge, earning their first gym badge
A monumental effort requiring extreme dedication.

For nearly three decades, Pokémon has remained one of the most beloved franchises in gaming. While millions eagerly await new releases, just as many continue to enjoy classic titles, with Pokémon Emerald standing out as a fan favorite from the third generation on Game Boy Advance.
One of the most grueling challenges in Pokémon is the Professor Oak Challenge, which requires players to register every possible Pokémon before earning a single gym badge. This already demands hundreds of hours, but there’s an even tougher variant: the Living Shiny Dex Challenge.
In this version, players must:
- Capture every Pokémon in its Shiny form.
- Obtain one Shiny Pokémon for each evolutionary stage.
A challenge beyond human limits
Has anyone ever completed it? Technically, yes, but only with the help of a bot running 24/7 to catch Pokémon.
The difficulty is staggering. For example, finding a Shiny Seedot took over a year of continuous searching before the bot had everything needed to defeat the first gym.
Now, the bot, developed by content creator 40 Cakes, continues its mission, aiming to capture every required Pokémon before reaching the second gym.
This challenge is so extreme that it pushes the boundaries of what’s humanly possible.
