Alarms sound at DC over the situation with ‘The Batman II’ and its Director: “Leave him alone”
Robert Pattinson’s packed schedule might not be the reason for the movie’s delay, as the actor has carefully planned his calendar.

The filming of ’The Batman II’ is expected to begin later this year, but the circumstances surrounding the movie don’t seem favorable for moving forward. Pattinson, who recently premiered ‘Mickey 17,’ is currently filming ‘The Odyssey’ and will start working on ‘Dune: Messiah’ right after. This has led many to believe he’ll need an extended break after the latter, which is set to shoot in the summer. However, according to insider Jeff Sneider, an expert in cinema and superhero matters, this isn’t the main reason.
“I don’t think anything is going to change; I don’t think the movie has been delayed,” says Sneider. “I believe Pattinson will do both. He’ll film ‘Dune: Messiah’ this summer and then, yes, he’ll be Batman in the winter. When they say ‘it’s moving to 2026,’ it could mean ‘we were going to start in December, and now it’ll be January.’ Technically, that could be it. I don’t think there’s a major delay.”
Unfortunately, the reason for a potential delay—or even cancellation, as some rumors suggest—has been the delicate situation of its director, Matt Reeves. If the movie proceeds but faces significant delays, Reeves might consider leaving the project. “A lot has happened in my life over the past year, and he’s been a great friend,” Reeves recently said about James Gunn, making it clear he’s going through a tough time. “He’s been a wonderful man. We’re still finishing the script, and so much has happened. This coming year, we’ll enter production and move the movie forward.”

Sadly, things not only haven’t improved but seem to have worsened, according to insider Grace Randolph. “If you knew what Matt Reeves is going through, you’d leave him alone. It’s not a situation like Chadwick Boseman’s, but it’s close. You should leave him alone,” she said, implying that Reeves or a close family member might be dealing with a serious health issue, though fortunately, it’s not life-threatening.
Robert Pattinson: DCU canon?
If this delicate situation persists, it wouldn’t be surprising to see rumors resurface about integrating Pattinson’s Batmanverse into James Gunn’s DC Universe, something that was speculated a few months ago. This stems from Warner Bros.’ urgency to have Bruce Wayne debut in the DCU, which, at this pace, might not happen until 2027 at the earliest. Gunn is still searching for the actor to portray the canonical Batman, and while several candidates have been suggested, nothing has been finalized yet.
