Battery problems in some Android smartphones after update. Details, affected brands and how to fix it
We tell you which brands are affected.

Recently, many Android smartphone users have reported that their phones’ batteries and performance have been bad after they updated to the latest version. The first reports were about Motorola devices, but it quickly became clear that the problem also affected Samsung and Google Pixel devices.
Battery problems on Android smartphones: What is happening?
After the most recent Android update and the arrival of One UI 7, users of Samsung devices such as the Galaxy S, Galaxy Z, and Galaxy A series have noticed that their batteries are being used up faster than normal.
Even though Samsung has been testing the new software, many people on their forums and on Reddit say that it is hurting the battery life of their phones.
Some models, like the Galaxy Z Fold 6, have gone from having 45-50% battery remaining at the end of the day to as little as 20-25%. This issue affects the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23 Ultra, and it forces many users to charge their phones twice a day.
Technical reasons for excessive battery consumption in Samsung
This type of update usually activates background processes that consume resources during the first few days. These processes include app optimization, cache rebuilding, and file indexing. Also, some new features that are turned on by default, along with the resetting of custom settings, would make the problem worse.

Which smartphone brands with Android are being affected by battery problems?
Motorola has confirmed there are battery and performance issues, particularly related to the Threads app. The company suggests that you update the app to the latest version (v380.1.0.54.88) from the Google Play Store, as it includes significant improvements.
However, it has been found that a faulty version of Google Play Services (from early May) caused a widespread increase in power consumption on Samsung, Motorola, and Pixel devices. Google released a fix with version 25.18, which has improved behavior on many devices.
Solutions for the battery problem in Samsung smartphones
Although there is no definitive or official solution, these are some suggested actions:
- Clear the system cache from Recovery mode.
- Wait 7 to 14 days for the system to learn your habits.
- Install the pending updates from Google Play Services.
- If a solution remains elusive, you might consider performing a factory reset.
The main recommendation is to be patient because these consumption peaks are usually temporary.
