Brad Pitt admits to the most disappointing role of his career: “I could have done better”
The famous actor of films like ‘Seven’, ‘World War Z’ or ‘Interview with the Vampire’ admits that he was weak in a movie of his beginnings.

Brad Pitt is currently one of the most appreciated actors in Hollywood, a true star of the film industry, with real blockbusters among his extensive filmography. But his beginnings were not easy. And it was not until her small appearance in ’Thelma & Louise’ in 1991 that she began to attract the attention of producers and filmmakers after several years of wandering in more than a few films and series. From that moment on, Pitt’s career took off, allowing him to appear in films such as ’Kalifornia‘, ’Interview with the Vampire‘, ’Legends of the Fall‘, ’Seven’ or ’Twelve Monkeys‘, among others. Though he had previously participated in ’A River Runs Through It‘, Robert Redford’s third film as director, in a role that the actor currently considers one of the most disappointing of his career.
Brad Pitt admits he wasn’t up to the task, the actor explained in an interview with Entertaiment Weekly while he was in the middle of production of ’World War Z,’ the memorable adaptation of the zombie genre novel of the same name, released in 2013. And the actor was asked about one of his first films as an actor in full swing, ’A River Runs Through It‘, directed by Robert Redford and released in 1992. A movie of which he does not keep a great memory for an interpretation that, according to him, was not up to par.
“That was a big deal. I grew up on Redford films and Newman films and Clint Eastwood and a lot of the Westerns. It was a beautiful story and one I understood because of how I grew up,” Pitt said of a film he was particularly excited about. However, the actor, over the years, realized that he was not up to the task, being especially critical of his work: “Robert Redford made a quality movie. But I don’t think I was skilled enough. I think I could have done better,” the actor continued.
At that time, Brad Pitt was already 29 years old, although he still had a long way to go as an actor, as he did from the mid-1990s to the present, even winning two Oscars, one for Best Picture as producer for ’12 Years a Slave’ and another for Best Supporting Actor for ’Once Upon a Time in Hollywood:’ “Maybe it was the pressure of the part, and playing someone who was a real person - and the family was around occasionally - and not wanting to let Redford down. But again, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen it. I was much more critical then. I was more self-conscious,” the actor concludes.

“Norman (Craig Sheffer) and Paul Mclean (Brad Pitt), the sons of a Protestant minister (Tom Skerrit), received a rigid and harsh upbringing that left them deeply scarred. Norman is a teacher and in love. Paul, on the other hand, is still at home and leads a self-destructive life. Through it all, there will always be something that holds them together: the wild river that runs through Montana, where they learned to fish,” reads the official synopsis of ’A River Runs Through It,’ a movie available for rent or purchase in the United States on platforms such as Amazon Video, Apple TV, Fandango At Home and Microsoft Store.
