Donkey Kong Bananza returns to 3D on Nintendo Switch 2: trailer and release date revealed

Among the most noteworthy announcements during the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal event was Donkey Kong Bananza, marking the iconic Nintendo gorilla’s return to three dimensions. The game will also feature 2.5D levels, offering a mix of gameplay styles. This latest installment represents a significant leap forward for the series, delivering greater freedom of action and an undeniably gorgeous art style.

Nintendo has also confirmed the release date: Donkey Kong Bananza will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on July 17, a little over a month after the console hits stores. The game was unveiled with a fun and lively trailer.

Nintendo Switch 2 officially announced

Following one of the most anticipated Nintendo Direct presentations in years, we now have finalized details about the Nintendo Switch 2 after months of leaks and speculation. The console will officially launch on June 5 at a price of $449.99, with an option to purchase a bundle featuring Mario Kart World for $499.99. While the new console’s library boasts exciting launch titles, it’s worth noting that Switch 2 will also be backward compatible with the vast majority of its predecessor’s catalog.

The event showcased a number of new game announcements, including The Duskbloods, a From Software exclusive for the console, Hyrule Warriors: The Era of Exile, and Kirby: Air Riders by Masahiro Sakurai. Additionally, several major titles are being ported to the system, such as Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, and Borderlands 4.
