Elden Ring Nightreign: Everything you need to know
FromSoftware’s latest adventure is almost here: get ready for Nightreign.

FromSoftware’s Elden Ring Nightreign is launching soon, bringing roguelike squad-based action to the world of Elden Ring. With new gameplay mechanics, eight unique heroes, and intense bosses, here’s everything you need to know before release.
US release times
Elden Ring Nightreign launches officially on May 30, 2025 worldwide, but it will be available on the 29th in most US time zones. It also has different times for PC and for consoles.
Time Zone | PC Release | Console Release |
PDT | May 29 - 3 PM | May 29 - 9 PM |
CDT | May 29 - 5 PM | May 29 - 11 PM |
EDT | May 29 - 6 PM | May 30 - 12 AM |
Platforms and crossplay/cross save
Elden Ring Nightreign will be available on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X|S. Since Elden Ring is going to have a Nintendo Switch 2 edition, there is a rumor about a possible port in the future for Nightreign, but we’ll have to wait for confirmation on that. Surprisingly for our time and age, the game will not support crossplay, and players will only be able to team up with others on the same platform, meaning PC players can’t join console lobbies, and vice versa...
Additionally, progress does not carry over between platforms, so if you start on PlayStation, you won’t be able to transfer your save to PC or Xbox.

Gameplay and features
Unlike Elden Ring, Nightreign is not open-world. Instead, players fight through procedurally generated areas, facing Nightlords and their minions in an ever-shrinking map. The game focuses on roguelike mechanics and squad-based combat, where players team up in squads of three or take on the challenge solo.
Characters
Nightreign introduces eight playable heroes, each with distinct abilities:
- Wylder – A balanced warrior with grappling hook attacks.
- Guardian – A tank with storm-based defenses.
- Duchess – A stealth assassin with invisibility skills.
- Recluse – A mage who drains enemy health.
- Ironeye – A sniper who marks enemies for critical hits.
- Raider – A brute-force fighter with earth-based attacks.
- Executor – A katana duelist with parry-based counters.
- Revenant – A spectral warrior who summons spirits.

Elden Ring Nightreign will be available in multiple languages, including English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), Korean, and Russian.
Fun facts and additional info
Elden Ring Nightreign is a standalone game, not a DLC. While connected to Elden Ring, it tells a completely new story set in a separate region. Unlike most modern multiplayer titles, Nightreign is not a live-service game, meaning players won’t see battle passes or seasonal content drops: it’s a self-contained experience with planned post-launch support.
The roguelike elements ensure every run feels different, with randomized loot, enemies, and events. FromSoftware has hinted at hidden mechanics tied to specific playstyles, encouraging players to experiment with different heroes. Preloading will be available for players who pre-order, letting them jump in the moment the game goes live.
Elden Ring Nightreign offers a fresh take on FromSoftware’s signature challenge, blending roguelike gameplay, co-op combat, and intense boss encounters. Whether you’re tackling its brutal fights solo or teaming up with friends, the game promises a thrilling new adventure in the world of Elden Ring.
