FromSoftware is rolling out patch 1.02 for Elden Ring Nightreign next week, bringing major fixes for solo players and general improvements. This follows the pre-launch patch 1.01, which introduced balance tweaks and character adjustments before the game officially went live.

What’s coming in patch 1.02?

The update focuses on making solo expeditions more viable, addressing complaints from players who found single-player runs too punishing. Key changes include:

  • Automatic revival upon defeat – Solo players will now revive once per night boss battle, reducing frustration.
  • Increased rune rewards – The amount of runes earned in solo mode will be boosted, helping players level up faster.
  • Bug fixes and stability improvements – While specifics aren’t detailed, FromSoftware has confirmed general performance optimizations.

A step toward better solo play

Elden Ring Nightreign was designed as a three-player co-op experience, but many players have opted to tackle expeditions alone. The lack of a two-player mode has been widely discussed, and while FromSoftware has hinted at future updates, patch 1.02 is focused on making solo runs more viable for now.

With Elden Ring Nightreign selling over 2 million copies on day one, FromSoftware is quickly addressing player feedback. Patch 1.02 aims to improve solo expeditions, making the game more accessible for those venturing into Limveld alone.
