Elon Musk says Assassin’s Creed Shadows “is a terrible game,” and Ubisoft’s response is already X history

The billionaire owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and the social network known as X harshly criticizes the French company’s latest game but ends up losing the debate on his own platform.

It’s well known that Elon Musk is a gaming enthusiast, so it’s no surprise that he not only plays titles like Diablo 4 but also shares his opinions on many others and various aspects of the industry (he even plans to open a studio focused on AI.) However, this time, Musk seems to have hit a nerve by being extremely critical of Ubisoft’s new game, stating that “Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a terrible game."

Musk is clear in his belief that the game is very bad, but his critique goes further, targeting a person he accuses of “selling out” by speaking positively about the title for money. He even claims his comments are based on objective facts.

Ubisoft Trolls Elon Musk

The official Assassin’s Creed account didn’t take kindly to the billionaire’s fierce attack and its response has become internet legend. Elon Musk was previously caught cheating in Path of Exile 2, boasting about an incredible level but showing no real knowledge of the game—until it was revealed someone else had been playing on his account. Ubisoft fired back with the now-iconic line, “Is that what the guy playing your Path of Exile 2 account told you?”

What’s objectively true is that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is doing remarkably well, breaking records that neither Assassin’s Creed Origins nor Assassin’s Creed Valhalla achieved.
