First image of ‘Skibidi Toilet’, the film based on the Internet phenomenon directed by Michael Bay

The director of ‘Transformers’ or ‘Armageddon’ takes the helm of a film adaptation as surreal as it is unexpected: the invasion of toilets.

Primer teaser 'Skibidi Toilet' Michael Bay

It sounds like a joke, but it’s not. Skibidi Toilet, one of the most popular viral Internet phenomena of recent times, is getting its own live-action film adaptation. Although the most surreal of the whole thing is that it will be helmed by a famous filmmaker as Michael Bay, responsible for such popular blockbusters as ‘Bad Boys‘, ‘The Rock‘, ‘Armageddon‘, ‘Pearl Harbor’ or the first five installments of ‘Transformers’ in the cinema. And we already have a first glimpse of ‘Skibidi Toilet’ through a first image shared -of course- on social networks along with its logo, confirming that the film is going into production.

Toilets with human heads invade theaters

Thus, this unexpected and crazy live-action film adaptation of a viral Internet series as absurd as Skibidi Toilet is produced by Invisible Narratives, a company founded by Adam Goodman, former president of Paramount Pictures, with Michael Bay at the helm as director. Little else is known about this new film, beyond the fact that it aims to adapt the hilarious universe created by Alexey Gerasimov and popularized through YouTube, in which disturbing human heads emerge from all kinds of toilets to face robots created from everyday devices such as televisions, speakers or cameras.

And we already have a first teaser of the movie ‘Skibidi Toilet’. In the teaser, two young people appear next to a crowd looking expectantly at the sky with a face of expectation before something unknown that seems to come from it; will it be a colossal toilet? We can expect anything from Michael Bay, although it will certainly include a good collection of explosions. Interestingly, the creator of this viral phenomenon said that the Transformers saga was a source of inspiration for his stories. The circle is now closed.

According to Goodman and the other producers, they hope to turn ‘Skibidi Toilet’ into a franchise with enough potential to compete with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so they will spare no budget to provide Michael Bay with all the necessary tools to achieve a super production at the height. They have even signed Hollywood figures such as Rob Legato, digital effects supervisor of such outstanding films as ‘Titanic’ or ‘Avatar’.
