Game of Thrones’ actor recalls his worst moment on set with Bella Ramsey: “Quite humiliating”
Kit Harington admits the experience was a humbling lesson.
Over eight seasons, George R. R. Martin’s ‘Game of Thrones’ was filled with memorable moments, both on-screen, and behind the scenes. As one of the longest-running cast members, Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow, had his fair share of experiences.
One of the most humbling involved Bella Ramsey, now widely recognized for her role in ‘The Last of Us’. Ramsey played Lyanna Mormont, the fierce young leader of House Mormont, and during a recent conversation hosted by Interview Magazine, she reminded Harington of an incident he might have preferred to forget.
Ramsey recalls the moment
During their conversation, Ramsey brought up an awkward memory:
“I don’t know whether you remember this, but I remember it quite vividly and have some remorse for it now, but during that scene I was mouthing your lines to you,” she told Harington.
“Now I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, how awful.’ But at the time it came from a very innocent place of being like, ‘Kit’s struggling with his line and I know it, so let me just mouth it to him.‘”
Harington’s reaction
Harington, now able to laugh about it, admitted:
“I do remember you helping me out and it being quite humiliating. [Laughs] But yeah, thanks for that. I’ve probably chosen to forget it.”
However, he also acknowledged that the experience was a wake-up call:
“If anything I was like, ‘Oh god, I’ve got to up my game. I came here not really being comfortable enough with my lines, in the arrogance of however old I was, thinking I’m just opposite some child. And then that child actor is wiping me off the screen.’ Not that it’s a competition, but you’re like, ‘Oh, I’ve got a bit too comfortable in my Jon Snow-ness‘.”
