‘Kaiju No 8’ announces unexpected end to its manga and leaves fans totally baffled
Naoya Matsumoto will conclude his shonen action story with chapter 129, and readers are not happy about it.

Kaiju No. 8 was one of those manga series that seemed destined to stay with us for many years to come. It’s a fresh shōnen series with hulking kaijus, an atypical protagonist, and a straightforward narrative that hooks you from the very first chapter. Its blend of action, drama, and science fiction quickly made it one of Shonen Jump+’s most popular hits. However, in a twist no one saw coming, the manga has announced its end. Kafka Hibino’s story is about to come to a close.
With issue 127, the bombshell arrived: there are only two more chapters left to learn the final outcome of the work. Based on the author’s typical publication schedule, the conclusion of Kaiju No. 8 is expected to be released between late June and early July. The only remaining elements are the resolution of the final battle and the epilogue.
Another manga that will disappoint with its ending?
As expected, the news has taken by surprise the vast majority of readers, who have not been slow to react in social media with a mixture of disbelief, frustration and resignation. Without going any further, one of the fans commented the following: “What an outrage. It’s super entertaining, I’ve been reading it since it started and it feels like nothing has happened, nothing has advanced and everything is the same, [...] Very bad character development”.
Many people already believe that Kaiju No. 8 is set to become the next manga with a disappointing conclusion unless its ending leaves readers with a great taste in their mouths. This has happened with ‘Kimetsu no Yaiba’ and ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’. Will the same thing happen to Naoya Matsumoto’s work?
