Lies of P: Overture expansion launches by surprise — A brutal new chapter in one of the best soulslikes

Shadow drops are always exciting, and Geoff Keighley knows it. During Summer Game Fest 2025, Neowiz revealed that Overture, the first DLC for Lies of P, is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC for $29.99.

A haunting prequel set in Krat’s final days

Overture transports players to a past version of Krat, just before the Puppet Frenzy massacre. You’ll explore new levels, battle fresh bosses, and uncover hidden lore that ties directly into the base game’s events.

The DLC introduces:

  • New areas, including the eerie Carnival Gardens, where attractions still run and music still plays.
  • Expanded lore, revealing the origins of Krat’s puppet workforce and the rise of the Stalkers.
  • New enemies and bosses, featuring smoother animations and more aggressive attack patterns.

New gameplay systems and quality-of-life updates

Alongside the DLC, update 1.008 adds several new features to the base game:

  • Boss Rematch Mode, including “Battle Memories” and “Death March” challenges.
  • Difficulty settings, now adjustable at any time.
  • Colorblind mode and revamped P-Organ customization.
  • Improved controls, including separate inputs for dash and dodge.

To access Overture, players must reach Chapter 9 and repair the Hotel Stargazer.

One of the best soulslikes on the market

In its MeriStation review (8/10), Lies of P was praised for its Bloodborne-inspired combat and unique identity:

“Lies of P follows the blueprint of FromSoftware’s greatest hits. Its developers use Bloodborne as a foundation to craft a solid and genuinely fun soulslike. The game shines when it embraces its own identity, breaking free from its influences. Unfortunately, this only happens in certain moments, but it speaks volumes about its future potential.”

With Overture, Neowiz aims to expand on that identity, delivering a more confident and atmospheric experience.
