Neither Bully nor Manhunt, this Rockstar title is shaping up to fill the void while we wait for GTA VI

A well-known Rockstar insider suggests that updated versions of the 13-year-old titles could be released this year.

Neither Bully nor Manhunt, this Rockstar title is shaping up to fill the void while we wait for GTA VI

The trend of nostalgia in video games shows no signs of stopping, and a new remaster could be closer than we think. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion returned in 2025, and Gears of War: Reloaded was recently announced and will be released later this year on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5. Although Rockstar confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will not be released until 2026, rumors suggest that the company will release more games in 2025.

A remaster of Grand Theft Auto IV could arrive this year

According to Tez2, one of the most well-known figures in the Rockstar community, there is a port of GTA IV for current-gen consoles, as he claimed on GTAForums. “Someone at Rockstar hinted at the IV port, and by now it should’ve gone up a year in development,” the leaker wrote, ”We may end up seeing it drop later this year. And it’s one more reason, in addition to existing reasons, the LCPP mod was taken down."

The rumors don’t stop there. If Rockstar’s plans from before the pandemic are still in place, a GTA IV port could be followed by a Max Payne 3 port. It should be noted that Remedy Entertainment is already working on a joint remake of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne as part of an agreement with Rockstar.

This is not the first time there has been talk of a possible GTA IV remaster. Back in 2022, Tez2 reported that Rockstar was planning to remaster GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption. However, after the poor reception of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, those projects were canceled.

For now, the only thing that has been confirmed is that Grand Theft Auto VI will not be released this year. Rockstar has confirmed a release date of May 26, 2026, exclusively for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
