Redmagic 10 Pro, review of the best smartphone for video games with Snapdragon 8 Elite

Power and design that has become a flagship device for gamers.

Redmagic is a brand that has sought to be the benchmark brand dedicated to gamers, this has been reflected both in its Redmagic Nova tablet and with the Redmagic 9S Pro that we analyzed in the middle of the year 2024. Now they are back with the Redmagic 10 Pro, a proposal that has improved in all its sections and that at first glance falls in love with its design. After several weeks of use, we have finally reached a verdict: will this be the definitive smartphone for gamers in 2025?

Cameras

This smartphone has a 50-megapixel, f/1.9 rear camera with an OmniVision OV50E 1/1.5 sensor with OIS optical stabilization, 7P lens with APL anti-reflection coating and a 50-megapixel, f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel, f/2.4 macro. The selfie camera is 16 MP, f/2.0 and is located below the display like the previous model.

Photography Methodology

As usual with the top of the line, the photos were taken with autofocus to see the shutter speed and performance of the equipment in different lighting scenarios.

In close-up shots, we saw good color balance, although the bokeh effect can sometimes affect the lens if it is not well focused.

In low-light shots, color rendition and shutter speed have improved considerably, but we were surprised by the performance in fluorescent lighting scenarios, as these types of shots are often complex for this type of equipment.

The 10x maximum zoom shots have improved a bit compared to the Redmagic 9S Pro, but the effect of blown pixels is still noticeable.

Full screen

Under natural light conditions, it performs well and has a good color rendition.

Full screen

It is worth noting that the low-light photos taken without flash and with neon tones are really exceptional.

Full screen

The selfie camera has improved a bit, although in low light conditions it creates a sort of blotchy effect that really leaves a lot to be desired. The fact that the camera is underneath the screen, if for some reason it has fingerprints on it, affects the photos a lot, so it is important to always clean the area where the lens is. However it is important to note that when there is good light, the images are good, much better than in the previous version.

Full screen

In terms of functions, like the previous model, it adds functions such as capturing star trails, starry sky, having a larger electronic aperture, physiograms, slow motion with 120, 240 FPS and now 480 FPS, time lapse, wide angle, macro, document scanning, taking identity photos, panoramic photos, clones, expert mode, night mode, portrait and a factory of effects with different filters. The selfie camera has 7 levels of beauty mode and 8 filters with different shades.

Video can be recorded in 720, 1080, and 4K at 30 or 60 FPS, as well as 8K at 30 FPS. It is important to note that stabilization has been improved and it supports H.264, H265 and HDR10 formats.

Camera score: 9

Display

It features a 6.85-inch BOE Q9+ with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, a resolution of 2688 x 1216, 20:9 aspect ratio that makes wonderful use of its incredible 95.3% screen-to-body ratio. It has a refresh rate of up to 144Hz with a touch sampling rate of up to 960Hz and an instantaneous touch sampling rate of 2500Hz with a maximum brightness of 2000 nits.

This display enables viewing of HDR content in Prime Video and Max, in the case of YouTube up to 2160 at 60 FPS.

It maintains the customization menu to choose the refresh rate of the screen between 60, 90, 120 or 144 hz or automatic mode, we can also let us know which we are using in the status bar as the previous model. The color can be adjusted in 4 modes: Colorful, Standard, Soft or Intense, as well as modifying the temperature in 3 preconfigured levels: warm, normal or cold. This section also allows you to adjust the temperature to your taste, we can even select a dark mode, reading mode or night mode.

Display Score: 9.5

Performance

The Redmagic 10 Pro is a beast of power as its design, cooling system and the AI-powered chip, Red Core R3 co-developed with Qualcomm, generate the double frame rate in the games we want, but it has a rescaling to 1440p and AI-powered stabilization.

The device we tested is the Snapdragon 8 Elite model with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, which is the Moonlight color (there is also the darker Twilight color), as there are also models with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage (in Shadow or Lightspeed color) or the monstrous Twilight Ultra model with 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.

We had no problem with the multitasking functions and in our stress test, running Fortnite with the highest values, doing a live from Twitch in HD gave us an average of 90 PFS.

Full screen

Apps like Alexa, Furbo, Google Assistant, Philips Hue, Hue Sync, Ring, and syncing with headphones like the WH-1000XM5 or Sonos Ace via Bluetooth 5.4 presented no hiccups. Interaction with LG Smart TVs with WebOs or Hisense’s 4K L9G Laser TV also worked well.

What remains the same as on the Redmagic 9S Pro is the dedicated button to enter gaming mode and the customization level where you can control the audio, heat sink and performance itself.

Performance score: 10

Audio

Here it is still very similar to the previous model, since it has two 1115K speakers, three microphones, DTS: X ULTRA sound with Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound co-tuning and the 3.5mm port that is appreciated at this point since few offer it nowadays.

The speakers have a good balance and volume, the same that look at the time of playing or watching some video content.

Audio score: 9.5

Battery

The Redmagic 10 Pro has a dual 7050mAh battery (25% more than the previous model) with fast charging up to 100W, which will certainly give you more than a day of normal use, although this equipment is made for the most demanding, so you can play long days and charge it very quickly, as its heat sink helps to keep it cool during fast charging. One thing that was missing was wireless charging.

This model still has the software to optimize battery usage with managers that identify which applications or hardware are using more power so you can change it manually. Turbo charging can also be enabled or disabled.

Battery score: 9.5

Accesories

This smartphone comes with an 80W fast charger, a SIM eject tool and a transparent protective case that allows you to appreciate its incredible design, but still far from making it really showy.

Full screen

The customizable keys remain a constant that will be appreciated especially because it helps a lot in shooting games. On this model, they have a 520 Hz response.

Full screen

The case, although discreet, still maintains the gamer style.

Accessories score: 9

Design

The Redmagic 10 Pro retains its square nature, with cameras arranged in a single line that does not interfere with the gaming experience, and RGB details that you can enable or disable and even customize for when you play games, consume multimedia content, receive notifications, make calls, charge, and even set the alarm.

The heat sink, which is a key part of keeping the computer at optimal temperatures, makes a little more noise this time, but keeps the temperature up to 10 degrees lower than the previous model (46 degrees under heavy use).

Full screen

It has a weight of 229 grams, dimensions of 163.42 x 76.1 x 8.9 mm, its cooling system ICE-X 13.5 has liquid metal technology, a vapor chamber of 12,000 mm² and the fan rotates at 23 RPM justifying the noise it makes when it is at maximum.

As mentioned, it has Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, tri-band, Wi-Fi Direct, NFC and USB-C 3.2 with HDMI projection capability.

It is important to note that this is not a waterproof and dustproof smartphone.

Design score: 9.5

Operative System

This smartphone comes with Redmagic OS 10 on Android 15, keeps the personal assistant Mora in Spanish and adds Google’s artificial intelligence to search and edit images with Google Photos, real-time translation and the ability to talk to Gemini, highlighting that these functions work perfectly.

The gaming section is still the most complete of all the devices available today, since you can customize many things, create shortcuts, configure network settings, integrate services such as Xbox, Steam, PlayStation or Epic, use services such as Ge Force Now, connect a keyboard, a mouse and even monitors with high refresh rates.

It is important to note that in all the weeks of use, we did not have any problems with crashes, unexpected shutdowns or connectivity problems, even in roaming mode.

Operating system score: 10

The Redmagic 10 Pro is the best smartphone for gaming today, improving on previous models and helping us get the most out of gaming on literally every platform, app and system available on Android. The camera has improved little and is still far from what other devices with the same processor offer, but the screen, sound, dedicated buttons, features and design are worthy of boasting.
