Resident Evil 9: Requiem is the bombshell of Summer Game Fest 2025: first trailer and release date
Capcom is back with one of the most legendary horror sagas in existence.

When it comes to horror and zombies in video games, the best Resident Evil games are a must-mention. This franchise debuted in 1996, and it has grown tremendously since then, with dozens of games and movies. Capcom just crashed the Summer Game Fest 2025 to announce Resident Evil 9: Requiem.
Capcom surprised fans with a spectacular trailer for Resident Evil 9: Requiem, in which an apocalyptic version of Raccoon City is revealed and Grace, a police officer, is introduced. Resident Evil 9: Requiem is set to release on February 27, 2026, for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
The new Resident Evil movie aims high
The Capcom saga has had its ups and downs with both the film world and the series format. Most movies are not too well rated and the last Netflix series was a resounding failure, so many fans of the long-running zombie horror franchise are eager for an adaptation to succeed. That’s exactly why the latest news about the new Resident Evil movie has piqued the community’s interest.
‘Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles’ will be an adaptation of the prequel Resident Evil Zero and Zach Cregger (‘Barbarian’) is set to direct it. On paper, the project looks promising, although we will have to wait to know the first details about the cast, the synopsis and its release date.
