Some Nintendo Switch 2 users are having a bad launch day with a punctured screen

Nintendo’s new console encounters an unexpected enemy.

Nintendo Switch 2 as en la manga destroza Steam Deck

The day has arrived: the Nintendo Switch 2 is in the hands of the gamers who queued for the midnight sale. The fun begins as they open the box, update the console, and start enjoying being a cow in Mario Kart World. However, not everyone is enjoying themselves. Unfortunately, a group of shoppers at GameStop have reported that a defect has ruined their console.

Nintendo Switch 2 screens are damaged on launch day sale at GameStop

Through social media, users who purchased the Nintendo Switch 2 are reporting punctured screens on their new consoles due to receipts being stapled to the front of the console. This apparently happened at a GameStop in Staten Island, NY, where this incident occurred.

According to images posted by users, the staple goes through both the cardboard box and the plastic bag covering the Switch 2. In some cases, the damage appears superficial, while in others, it appears to have damaged the screen’s protective film more deeply.

Who is to blame? A user with a damaged screen asks, “Why have the screen facing up with barely any protection? I mean, they are still idiots for stapling it." The way the Switch 2 is packaged certainly offers very little protection for the screen, although the cardboard box itself would have to suffice.

Neither GameStop nor Nintendo has commented on the matter at this time. If the warranty does apply, users affected by this issue will have to wait for the console to be restocked in stores before they can get a replacement.
