Son gives a PS4 Pro to his father after 20 years playing the same PS2 game... and he’s still playing it on the new console
A viral Reddit post tells how a user gave a PS4 Pro to his father so he could play new games, and the man decided to play the same game he had been playing for 20 years on PS2.

Whether out of nostalgia or necessity, many of us have spent years playing the same video game over and over again. Something similar happened to the father of one Reddit user, whose story is as heartwarming as it is funny. For nearly two decades, this man exclusively played Metal Slug Anthology on the PlayStation 2 because his family couldn’t afford to upgrade to a PS3. Years later, the son, now an adult, decided to give him a brand new PS4 Pro. The surprise was great because the father, instead of playing a more recent title, continued to play Metal Slug thanks to the fact that the same compilation is also available on PS4.
A son gave his father a PS4 Pro to stop him from playing the PS2 version of Metal Slug Anthology... the first thing the father did was play the same game on the new console
A post on Reddit’s gaming section went viral not only because of how heartwarming it is when a son gives a father a new console to play with, but because the first thing he did was play the exact same game he’d been playing for twenty years on the previous console, generating all kinds of funny reactions.
The author of the publication recounts that his family could not afford a PlayStation 3, so his father spent nearly twenty years playing the same PS2 game: Metal Slug Anthology. This is a very complete compilation of the Metal Slug saga that includes seven games in one: Metal Slug 1 to 6, and Metal Slug X, an improved version of the second title in the franchise.Honestly, it’s understandable why the man didn’t want to play anything else. Metal Slug games have an arcade spirit and are highly replayable, with accessible and simple but difficult to master gameplay, and it’s also a very complete package that ensures dozens of hours of individual and cooperative play.

The funny thing is that the son gave his father a PS4 Pro with good intentions so that he could play more modern titles, such as Uncharted 4: A Thief’s Denouement and God of War. But this man is a creature of habit, and, as soon as he discovered that Metal Slug Anthology is also available on PS4 - it exists in both physical and digital versions - he went back to playing his favorite game... this time with support for HD screens and Trophies.
