The Elden Ring movie is official and will come from A24
The film will attempt to capture the challenging essence of the acclaimed video game.

What was rumored earlier this month has become a reality. Bandai Namco Entertainment and A24 have confirmed their partnership to produce a live-action film adaptation of FromSoftware‘s acclaimed video game and 2022 GOTY, Elden Ring.
Elden Ring will come to theaters, first details
According to a press release from Bandai Namco, it has been announced that Elden Ring will come to theaters through the production company A24. Alex Garland, known for his work on Ex Machina and Civil War, will direct and write the script for the film.
Among the people involved with the film are producers George R.R. Martin, who helped write details of the story within the video game, as well as Vince Gerardis, who is co-executive producer of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. In addition, the production will also feature Peter Rice alongside DNA’s Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich. For now, there is no mention whether Hidetaka Miyazaki, or anyone from FromSoftware, will be involved in any way with the film.
There are currently no further details about the production, cast, or release date of the film.
A Soulslike that is headed for the movies
One of the most interesting details about this adaptation is how the Soulslike concept will be translated to the movies. This subgenre of action RPG games is distinguished by its high levels of difficulty, where facing enemies over and over and over again is part of the game’s charm. To some extent, movies like Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt have presented a background of what we can expect, but considering the high dark fantasy that the genre presents, as well as a narrative that happens more with the player’s own exploration, it will be interesting to know how it will be adapted.
Meanwhile, Elden Ring continues to have a presence in video games. An enhanced version under the name Elden Ring Tarnished Edition will bring the full experience to Nintendo Switch 2 this year. Prior to that, a spinoff, Elden Ring Nightreign will bring the genre experience to a multiplayer mode on May 30.
