C.J. Gardner-Johnson rips former team, takes aim at second straight
C.J. Gardner-Johnson won his first Super Bowl this February with the Philadelphia Eagles, but was promptly traded following the title celebrations.

The Philadelphia Eagles won their second Super Bowl in franchise history back in February and now the focus shifts on a back-to-back bid. C.J. Gardner-Johnson may not be on the Eagles anymore, but he is also eyeing a back-to-back Super Bowl run of his own.
Not feeling the Brotherly Love
It wasn’t long after the confetti was cleaned up following the Super Bowl parade in Philly that the Eagles were already thinking about shaping their roster for a title defense season. Unfortunately for CJGJ, he was not part of the future plays for the current Super Bowl champions. He was trade to the Houston Texans for offensive lineman Kenyon Green and some draft compensation.
“I feel highly disrespected, but it’s a business,” Gardner-Johnson told Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2. “Never was an All-Pro or Pro Bowl! Never! Led the league in interceptions. What more do you want?”

Gardner-Johnson was an instrumental part of the Eagles defense that kept the Kansas City Chiefs for most of the 60 minutes on Super Bowl Sunday. It was his second stint in Philly, after playing with the Eagles and getting to the Super Bowl in the 2022 campaign. After an injury filled year in Detroit, Gardner-Johnson returned to the City of Brotherly Love and got his ring that eluded him for the last couple of seasons.
Next three for CJGJ
He knows that the Eagles have a chance to go back to back, but so does he. The defensive back that never shies away when a microphone is in his face, said he isn’t just worried about winning one this year, he is looking for multiple Super Bowls.
“People say, ‘He’s a hazard, he’s this, he’s that.’ I never been no hazard, bro. They got no real issues on me. That black ball ain’t going to work on me, because I got me a ring. I got me one. I got three more championships in me. I’m probably going to win the next three. I’m going to get me another Super Bowl this year. Just watch.”
He is heading to a Houston Texans team that has been to the playoffs in the two seasons with C.J. Stroud and DeMeco Ryans at the helm. It’s a talented young team, that is likely to be in the running in the AFC, and Gardner-Johnson knows the pieces are there, but tis team needs to take it to the next level.
“I mean, you guys played a lot of good ball here, but I don’t think they understand what it means to win when it matters,” he said. “I’m not talking discredit to the team. I’m just saying I’ve been in a lot situations where, from Detroit to New Orleans to Philly, I’ve got to win when it matters and I’ve been in games where I had to step up.
