Always outspoken and never one to hold back, Draymond Green admitted he was caught off guard when the Dallas Mavericks landed the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft lottery – just days after they traded Slovenian star Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Golden State Warriors forward appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he shared his thoughts on the blockbuster deal. “Superstars at 25 years old don’t get traded,” he said bluntly.

When Kimmel asked if he found it suspicious that the Mavericks won the lottery right after a trade that shook the entire league, Green didn’t hesitate.

“Even though he suspends me and fines me often, I still consider Adam Silver a friend, so I’m not going to go there,” Green added. “But it might be a little suspicious. Just a little bit (that they gave the No. 1 pick to the Mavericks).”

Dallas only had a 1.8% chance of securing the top pick, jumping from the 11th spot to No. 1 overall – the largest leap in lottery history.

The 2025 NBA Draft will take place on June 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, where the Mavericks are widely expected to select Duke standout Cooper Flagg.
