Update:

The Dallas Cowboys have been making some moves this offseason - an improvement from last year when they didn’t do much at all. And arguably the biggest, most impactful move they made was acquiring wide receiver George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pickens, however talented, comes with some baggage as he got into some trouble both on and off the field last season. But Dallas so far seems to be the perfect place for him, and the Cowboys have a plan.

Cowboys’ plan for Pickens

As questions and concerns come up regarding Pickens’ past outbursts, the Cowboys - with owner Jerry Jones, quarterback Dak Prescott, and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb - have a plan for him. They are creating a support system while he and they are under all this scrutiny.

“There will be a time and a place when Pickens will feel the pressure and will have to deal with it,” said Cowboys insider Mike Fisher. “But right now? emphasize

And his receiving mate CeeDee Lamb, who the fans are all excited to see line up together with Pickens, also defended him. Lamb made sure to emhasize Pickens’ passion for the game and vowed to protect him while he gets used to the way things work in Dallas.

“I knew who he was as a player just by watching him with the Steelers and seeing how passionate he is about the game,” said Lamb. “I think critics get it a little twisted; when you’re passionate about something, you’re willing to do anything for it, right? Just being happy in an organization - I’m not saying he was or wasn’t [in Pittsburgh] - but he hasn’t stopped smiling since he got here.”

Pickens now has a fresh start, and provides significant upside for the Cowboys, but the pressure is sure to catch up with him eventually. If he thrives, a big contract - possibly even from another team - could be on the horizon next offseason. For now, the Cowboys are offering him the perfect platform to start over and thrive.
